| My client a specialist in Rail Engineering has an urgent requirement for the position of Head of Engineering Capabilities working in Central London.
As Head of Engineering Capabilities you will be required to:
To identify and provide engineering solutions to station delivery issues. Facilitation of site related engineering issues. Provide management of the Engineering team.
Manage the Engineering team in support of our clients Alliance delivery and acceptance of our clients Alliance delivery on behalf of the Stations Alliance Engineering Director. Develop, produce and maintain materials samples register. Communicate samples register to appropriate personnel and monitor its use. Provide rapid response to engineering site issues and provide solutions as appropriate. Support Engineering Authority and Operations Teams where required with generic issues. Obtain solution approvals and concessions as necessary, both in terms of asset engineering and commercial. Proactively input into the feedback and lesson learnt process
Have a Degree (or equivalent) in appropriate engineering discipline Be a Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 8 years post graduate experience in an engineering discipline (or HNC with 15 years experience). Be recognised as an authority in own technical discipline Have considerable knowledge of the assets and the railway environment Have a wide knowledge of system engineering principles and interface management techniques Have a thorough understanding of relevant LUL, national and international engineering standards Possess excellent communication skills, listening and counselling skills and mentoring / performance management Management experience gained within multi-disciplinary teams

Ability to use own initiative and problem solve. Team leader able to motivate and manage staff. Strong inter-personnel skills. Excellent presentation skills and the confidence to deliver internally and to outside bodies. Self motivated with the ability to prioritise workload.
Mainly office based will be required to attend client meetings and on occasions a site meeting. The Jobholder may be required to work infrequent night shifts as required to discharge the role effectively
The job holder must be committed to the Alliances General Safety Policy Statement and any related safety programmes. They must be aware of his/her contribution, including the requirement to monitor safety performance and compliance with the systems established to assist maintaining high safety standards.
The job holder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to his/her post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements. These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 and associated regulations. Ensuring that services provided in their area are in compliance with all relevant safety and legal requirements. |
