| Essential Skills: BSC/BEng minimum in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Strong interest in dynamics and statics, mechanical, thermal and structural analysis of engine components Fluent in the use of analysis software such as Nsoft, Mechanica, ANSYS, LabVIEW, Matlab, CRAB, & LMS. Solid knowledge of the diesel engine, components and sub-systems One to five years in focused technical area of expertise such as structure and stress analysis, finite element analysis, or design, with demonstrated experience and capability to manage projects. Problem solving skills Excellent oral & written communication skills Capable of developing and managing aggressive test plans leading to implementation of new design Ability to comprehend and employ Engineering Standard Work and other Quality-driven documentation. Motivated, self-directed, proactive in resolving issues Lead and participate in cross-functional technical groups/teams Work with a measure of autonomy, with supervision relating primarily to new methods Consult with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments that are outside scope of responsibility
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate the structural integrity of MidRange diesel engine components and systems using analytical and experimental tools such as Nsoft E, Pro-Mechanica, ANSYS, Cambell Scientific data acquisition, LabVIEW, Matlab, strain gauges, accelerometers, signal analysers, and data analysis tools such as LMS. Prepare technical data and complete documentation of work. Improve and maintain simulation tools, rig tests and engine tests to reduce product development cycle time and cost. Provide input to corporate ´best practice´ procedures. Participate in ESW/product technology practice procedure updates. Participate in cross functional Design Reviews, FMEA´s, HAZ Reviews and 6S project teams. Participate in the planning and accomplishment of work in support of the Design Teams. Coordinate tests and analyses with internal and external suppliers and customers in support of the Design Team´s structural analysis needs. Support Engineering change proposals and provide input to support their approval, cancellation, or recommendations for modifications Participate in development of expertise and tools to increase functional capabilities. Lead activities or participate in the effort of defining, reviewing, and revising Engineering Standard Work documents. Develop and run electro-dynamic shaker tests including random, sine dwell, and/or swept sine operation. Actively support local plant and MTO projects pertaining to the implementation of Corporate Responsibility initiatives Active use of Six sigma and DFSS tools to develop robust, reliable, financially economical design solutions |
